Every stage of pregnancy feels different, and so should your massage. This short guide explains what changes from one trimester to the next, when Empress can start treating you, and how our senior Balinese therapists adapt each session at home in Dubai.
First trimester (weeks 1 to 13)
The first weeks are often about tiredness, nausea and adjusting to big changes. At Empress we do not offer prenatal massage in this stage. Gentle rest, hydration, light walks and good sleep are the best support for now. If you have tension or headaches, ask your doctor or midwife what is right for you.
Early second trimester (weeks 14 to 19)
Many mums feel more energy as the nausea settles. This is a good moment to plan ahead: choose your preferred times, think about which discomforts you would like help with, and check with your doctor that massage is suitable for your pregnancy.
From 20 weeks: your prenatal massage can begin
Empress starts prenatal massage from 20 weeks. Every session is done side-lying, supported with pillows, so you never lie flat on your back or on your tummy. Your therapist uses slow, gentle pressure and avoids areas that are not advised during pregnancy. Common focus areas are the lower back, hips, shoulders and neck. Third trimester (weeks 28 to birth)
As your bump grows, comfort becomes the main goal. Sessions often focus on hip and lower back tension, tired legs and feet, and help with relaxation before sleep. Your therapist adjusts your position and the pillows as often as needed, and you can pause at any time. We keep sessions calm and unhurried, in the comfort of your own home.
After birth
Once your doctor gives the green light, postnatal massage can help you rest and reconnect with your body while your baby stays close by. See our postnatal massage at home.
